Hong Kong Transportation

Hong Kong Transportation

Getting around Hong Kong is really great since it has a great public transportation system. The mode of transportation is by ferry, rail, bus, tram or taxi. No hassle to roam around the place.

TAXIS
Taxis are color coding. Red taxis send you to Hong Kong Island and Kowloon and can go anywhere in the territory. The Green taxis only serve the New Territories. Similarly, the Blue taxis serve only in Lantau Island.

MTR
MTR rail system covers all major districts in the territory.

Ferries
Ferries are cheaper mode of transportation across the Victoria Harbour. Ferries navigate between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island from piers in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hom in Kowloon and Central.

Trams
The Trams routes along the northern shore of Hong Kong Island between Shau Kei Wan and Kennedy Town and around Happy Valley.

Buses
There are two types of buses, the single and double-decker which serve almost all the Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories.

What about the OCTOPUS CARD?

It is very convenient to use the OCTOPUS CARD coz it saves time and need not to bring coins. Octopus Card can be used in transportation systems, convenience store and shops. The Octopus Card is so simply to used, just placed on the touch pads and payment is automatically deducted.
